Overview

This position serves as a member of the Global HR Compliance team. The position assists in the implementation and maintenance of company HR compliance programs, as well as in the defense of employment related claims and disputes.  The position works closely with HR partners, the Legal Department, outside counsel and other professionals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to SYKES policies on ethics and integrity.
  • Assist with management of employment litigation matters, including document collection, review and organization.
  • General support for employment litigation and compliance as needed, including administration and management of e discovery tools and processes.
  • Support all legal compliance processes, including internal and external legal compliance documentation collection, preparation, review, and organization.
  • Research emerging compliance issues, collect, analyze and track compliance-related data, and prepare resource materials.
  • Assist with designing and implementing new processes and procedures to support the continuous improvement of legal compliance processes and promote efficiencies.
  • Responsible for managing e-billing, matter management and analytics in Serengeti system.
  • Manage and maintain legal compliance databases and shared sites.
  • Establishes and maintains records of file/document retention schedules, oversees and authorizes document destruction, and ensures that appropriate documents are indexed, archived, and properly stored.
  • Organize in-person and online legal compliance training for internal teams.
  • Assist with management of various regulatory, litigation, and investigation matters.
  • Assists with the development, monitoring, management and data analysis necessary to prepare Affirmative Action Programs.
  • Provide administrative support to the Sr. Director Global HR Compliance/Employment Counsel; may be called upon to provide additional support to the Department.
  • Plan, organize and manages Global HR Compliance team projects as required for full implementation of project goals and objectives, including identification of necessary resources and project team members.
  • Designs and maintains project materials, including project plan, charter, timeline, and project management software updates.
  • Facilitates regular stakeholder and project team meetings and communications, including scheduling, development and circulation.
  • Supports effective and on-going communication with individuals involved directly or indirectly with team projects.
  • May perform other additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Paralegal Certification, Associate’s or equivalent degree in Paralegal Studies required and 3-5 years related experience and/or training. Previous HR/Employment Law experience preferred.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience using business acumen, interpersonal and communication skills to create and maintain collaborative working relationships with senior administrators and a diverse group of constituents including Global HR Compliance team members, HR colleagues, and leadership, as well as external constituencies, such as outside counsel, vendors, and government agency representatives.
  • Experience maintaining discretion in recognizing, protecting and adhering to absolute confidentiality of highly sensitive or controversial information
  • Experience using writing, editing and proofreading skills to produce policy-related documents and documents that summarize issues such as complaints, investigative findings, memoranda of understanding and other reports and documents.
  • Experience researching complex issues related to whistleblower regulations and policy, whistleblower retaliation, Title IX, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, affirmative action etc.
  • Must be able to effectively plan, organize and manage projects with minimal oversight.
  • Must possess strong reading comprehension, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information from a variety of sources; independently identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prepare basic financial reports, budgets, forecasts and accruals.
  • Must be able to follow instructions, respond to direction, and commit to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
  • Must demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Accepts responsibility for own actions; follows through on commitments.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel, PowerPoint and Word, as well as strong internet and web-based software skills. Ability to create and maintain databases including manipulating and extracting data for spreadsheets, and producing compliance-related reports.
  • Ability to distill results, analysis, and recommendations into written memoranda
  • Strong problem solving, decision-making, reporting, communication and time management skills
  • Must be able to multi-task, take initiative and work well independently
